Default Digital Cameras

In the next month or so I'll be picking up my 1st SLR and am more than likely going with the Nikon D5000.
What kind of SLR do you have?

I don't have one yet either, but I was also looking at the D5000 and D3000. I recommended the 3000 to my boss when he was looking for a camera for his one daughter. From what I see, it is a difference of 2Mp and a few other features. I can get one with two lenses, card, bag and other crap at Costco for $629 I think. I am interested in what you end up with.

The Nikons are cool. Canon also makes a great camera.

CAPN,, the D3000 doesn't have the point and shoot,,that screen is just for playback....you have to look thru the view finder to take a pic,,you don't want the D3000 ,, the D5000 obviously is point and shoot along with 720p hd video. I'm also going for a package deal..
Make sure any lense you get is a "VR" lense for Nikon

Good point, I was playing around with a 3000 at a local store, and couldn't figure out how to get the image to display on the screen....before I took a picture. I guess I will have to save up a little bit more and go for the 5000 package. Thanks for the tip.

I don't have a digital SLR as of yet . would love to get one

I would probably go with a CANNON siply because when I was into photography in school I used a Cannon SLR 35mm that i still have and it is my understanding that the old lenses from those cameras will still work on the new cannons ....
