I like having these contests so since there's quite few new joins now seems like a good time have one.
When you signed up for the forums you were automatically given a referral code. Something like
http://www.americangunowners.org/forums/index.php?referrerid=1 (http://www.americangunowners.org/forums/index.php?referrerid=1)
That's my code, so don't use that one. :) Just change the ending number to your user number and each time someone clicks that link and joins the site it will count as referral for you. They can also simply put your username in the "referred by" field when signing up, but they have to enter it exactly.
So the contest is, the person who sends the most active referrals will win something. Maybe gun related, maybe not. There will be a list to choose from well before the contest ends, which should probably run for at least 2 months, maybe longer, just to give everyone a chance to get some referrals rounded up.
The referrals must all be active to count. So the zero posts or that one post "hello" post can't count.
Once things get moving I'll post a sticky with the prize list. Suggestions along the way will be welcomed. :)
