Just curious what types of tweaks, mods and parts are being done to everyones PX4's.
I have done a few things to mine and I am quite satisfied with the set-up I have. It looks quite decent too. Thats always a plus.
The same week I got mine (NIB) I ordered the stealth lever kit from dave Olhasso. Took about 15 mins to get the levers and the slim slide lock installed. I was so tired of being bitten by the "batwings" when I would slingshot the slide. Plus the kit makes the PX4 look so much better IMHO.
Next was a trigger job performed by none other than.......ME. I did it simple though. Just polishing of the main contact points between the sear and hammer. Did a light buff of the trigger bar as well. No spring changes or anything like that. So the trigger is not lighter, but much smoother with a very nice crisp break in SA. It is a defense/combat pistol after all. So I do not want too light of a pull.
Then it was time to get rid of the "poo-poo" color of the barrel. I hated how it looked. The entire pistol is a beautiful Bruniton black with a shit colored barrel peeking out of the chamber and the end of the slide. First I tried to just remove the finish and polish it myself. It looked really good. Until.........RUST started showing up. I guess the carbon steel used for Beretta barrels is not all that great. Or possibly I just did not polish it as fine as needed. Anyways, off to Robar for the NP3 treatment. I am very happy to say that even after 13K rounds post NP3 treatment, the barrel still looks like it did the day it arrived from Robar.
Also I had Steve Bedair custom make me a stainless guide rod. What a great addition. Not to mention Mr. Bedair was a complete pleasure to deal with. The cost? $35 including shipping. The turn around time? Exactly 7 days! I had to ship my original to Mr. Bedair so he could re-use the same end cap and recoil spring. So the original plastic guide rod is broken in the process to get the cap and spring off. No biggie though. I would never put a plastic one back in anyways. The end result is the gun has a bit more heft under the barrel and "felt" recoil is reduced by I would guess 10%. And it does feel like it cycles much smoother as well.
And the most recent purchase was a OMBU Z5 tac light. It is a bit inferior to say an M3 or a TRL-1, but for a nightstand pistol, it works great. I picked it up about 6 or 8 weeks ago and even as much as I "test" (really meaning play with) it, the original batteries are still going quite strong.
Also just with in the last week I have swapped out the medium backstrap for the larger backstrap. Just makes it a bit more beefy and seems to fit my hand much better. The large backstrap is the only thing missing from the pics.
