Just thought I would take a minute to show off my new carry gun. While it is an Indiana State Police trade in and has a lot of holster wear it appears to have a ver low round count. It came with 3 LE mags also which was nice. Had to change the mag release from left handed use to right handed and then added some new CTC wrap-around grips and I'm good to go now.
Sorry about the picture quality. Camera is old and I am not a great picture taker.

I think only the new style has the black case, at least that is what I read somewhere I thought...

Since you're gonna be carrying this one, I would say any existing holster wear is a non-issue... looks like a great deal to me on a fine Beretta 96.
Am I seeing night sights on her? If so, are they sufficiently bright?

Yeah it has factory trijicons but they are dead. Once I get my Inox out of layaway, I'll be sending the 96 to CCR for a refinish and lamp replacement.

How much for the lamp replacement, if I might ask???
Too... had you considered Walter Birdsong's Black-T finish on your 96?
Walter Birdsong and his Black-TŪ and Green-TŪ finish (http://www.snipercentral.com/birdsong.htm)
I'm looking seriously at sending a Springfield Loaded to him in the next month or so. It too is about at the point of needing a lamp replacement... they are beginning to dim significantly.

Actually Cliff I had never heard of their finishes until you provided the link. I would be interested in finding out what it would cost.
I have spoke to CCR on the phone and to have my 96G redone will cost $149 and they can replace the lamps for an additional $60 for all 3, which is an awesome deal. Lamp replacement by CCR is almost 1/3 of the price that I got from Tool Tech when I called them about replacing the trijicons. It is the main reason I was looking at CCR.

Birdsong's work is well noted... you might say he is sort of like a "well kept secret" in the gun industry. Walter doesn't advertise as I'm sure you might have read in the Sniper(dot)com article. His price to refinish a pistol was about $170 - $180 over a year ago... might have gone up some by now. I'm not up to date on his current pricing and would have to call him (doesn't advertise... no website).
His finish is from what I understand a teflon based application, but much thinner than typical and bonds into the metal in effect, with very good drag coefficient numbers (all that in the article, but I'm basing this on what Mr. Birdsong had told me on the phone before).
Your CCR deal is for a hardchrome or ceramic type finish? That's a different animal but does look nice... and their price is very attractive, especially on the lamp replacement. I'm not sure if Birdsong does that.

Cliff the prices are for the black micro-ceramic refinish. When It gets close to the time when I can send it off, I'll contact CCR again and see if I can speak to Brad. From all of the posts I have read on BF about CCR, everyone says Brad is really great to deal with.
Sleepy in answer to your question I will probably get another Galco jackass rig. My try the vertical this time and my other 2 rigs from them have been the adjustable horizontal type. Their rigs have been easy to wear and I haven't really had any problem with printing while wearing them.

SAA-WEET. Ain't nuthin' finer for carry than Italian steel throwing 40 cals. :D
And that's the truth! ;-)
My main carry is an 8040 Mini Cougar with the extended mag filled to the top with Rangers.

The 96 and the .40 S&W caliber are a fine combination... a very sweet marriage. There's a couple of threads over on the BF regarding durability of the 96 in light of the .40 S&W cartridge causing higher stresses. Me... I ain't worried about it. If the 96 has a life expectancy of XXXX rounds less than a 92FS, such is a fair tradeoff for the desirable performance of a .40 S&W cartridge capability. It might be best expressed this way... let's say you have both a 92FS and a 96... and when it's time to pull one out of the ole' gunsafe for bedside duty... which is it going to be??? A 9mm shooter or a .40 S&W shooter??? I'm votin' for "bigger is better".
