OK, I'll add my 8045 mini in here...
Custom rail job; milled the dust cover flat, then got a standard weaver rail for a octagonal barrel muzzle loader (flat bottom), cut & fit it to the milled spot, then drilled, tapped, and screwed into place.

Oh the 8040 mini. You need to track down a 8357 and swap the top with this.
You would have a 8357 FrankenCougar mini.

Here are my current Berettas. 96F, 92FC, 84FS and lastly, their first cousin, a Stoeger Cougar 8000. Couldn't find a Beretta but got a good deal on this one. The 92FC was issued to me in 1988 and I bought it when I retired. As good today as the day iot came out of the box.

Here are two centurions that I turned into my version of a Custom Combat Centurion. I got the idea from a Combat / Stock to add a bushing on the front end with a locking retainer nut. They both now are extremely accurate.

I do not own a PX4 so let me look at the schematics on the pistol and then I can give you a detailed answer. As long as you can get a barrel for it that sticks out of the front of the slide by approximately 5MM it can be done.

very nice WAL.....I'm also interested in the "bushing" mod and what all is involved in doing it to my 92. Hope to hear more about it.

WAL

The first one I did was for a 92 Combat. I purchased a 96 Combat and made a 92 Combat/Stock. I took a regular 92 barrel and brought down the barrel to fit the conicle bushing and locking retainer nut.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb188/wal222/Combats4.jpg
Then I took a 92 Centurion and opened up the front of the upper to accept a conicle bushing from BUSA and took a regular 92 barrel and fit the barrel to the proper length to accept the locking retainer nut.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb188/wal222/CombatCenturion1.jpg
Then I got an idea why cant I make my own conicle bushing so I do not have to open up the upper to accept the larger conicle bushing from BUSA and thread the end of the barrel to accept the locking retainer nut. The pistol with the wooden grips has the thinner conicle bushing and the all black one has the conicle bushing from BUSA.
http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb188/wal222/Centurions1.jpg
Now I am going to make two Stainless barrels fit my conicle bushings and lock them down with the BUSA locking retainer nut for my Steel I and my Billennium. Of course I will not modify the origional barrels of either pistol.
Then I will have my versions of a Steel I/Combat/Stock and a Billennium/Combat/Stock.
I should have this concept done this week and I will post pictures.

I made conicle bushings to fit the uppers for the Billennium and the Steel I and used the locking retainer nut that I purchased from BUSA. I could not use the Conicle bushing that BUSA has with out modifying the upper and that I will not do. That would devalue the pistols.
The locking nut on the Billennium I polished to have a nice finish to match the pistol. On the Steel I, I thought it might look good to leave the locking nut black.

Tomorrow night I will go to the range with both of them and the origional barrels to see the diffrence between the accurizing of the barrels.

Here's my new Px4 40/G replacement gun, almost 7 months later, from BUSA and one of my SIG P229's.

The acid test is coming as Winter closes in, along with, cold temps at or below 64F-54F and down, to see IF, in fact, this new gun can shoot, full time, anytime, any temp, all year round, like any of my P229's CAN..

...

Actually, I'm thinking on selling it before any such event may creep back up with it..

Gonna be a Calif sold gun here in CA, to get the highest price, as we just pay more here NIB, etc., and with the rail mounted Laser, 5 new 10 round mags, the new night sights, G-model, the trigger job, the extra new D-spring and return spring and double sets of backstraps plus one slightly used Hogue Rubber slip-on sleeve, plus case of course, she should sell and get me the money I need to buy either a Dan Wesson 4" Commander or SA lightweight 4" (very thin gun) loaded Champion model Army Green frame, black slide, chrome bull barrel and thin lightly textured black rubber side, panel-only, grips.

I just need a small/thin 4" 45 for ccw- Big hole Days.. lol

Kinda have 40cals, my Sigs, and they have proved themselves over to me so, 2's company, 3 of them is a crowd.. lol

Lonestar, I don't know if I buy it or not(however it is a strong possibility), but like you know the whole problem could have been us(and others) putting our fingers too low on the trigger, and because of the shape of the trigger , our fingers may have been getting pinched between the trigger and the trigger guard. If mine ever starts the sting and I don't think it's that, I will also sell it, but I like the design of the PX4 too much(plus the capacity/reliability), and it was my first gun that I ever bought, so it would be personally tough to get rid of it.

TcRoc

They are very reliable...but let that rotating barrel run dry and see how reliable it is,,when I first bought a cougar years ago I didn't know they had to be greased,,it constantly failed.
If I were to buy another Beretta with the rotating assembly it would be a Inox Cougar 9mm for sure
