DENNIS TOWNSHIP, N.J. - A New Jersey second-grader's drawing of a stick figure shooting a gun has earned him a one-day school suspension.

Seven-year-old Kyle Walker's mom told an The Press newspaper of Atlantic City that her son was suspended for violating the district's zero-tolerance policy on guns. She said her son told her he'd drawn a water pistol.

Kyle gave the picture to another child on the school bus, and that child's parents complained about it to school officials.

The case is not the first in New Jersey in which students were suspended for depictions of weapons.

Four kindergarten boys were suspended in 2000 for playing cops and robbers, even though they were using their fingers as guns.

Well that goes to show you that no matter how silly or inane a simple thing like a drawing or a game is enough to get people up in arms. Sad thing is that it seems parents are more involved with keeping their kids from playing simple games then actually participating in their childs developement as a person.

I truth I feel really sorry for the kids. When parents start making everything fun into something bad and wrong, there isn't a lot of choices about how to look at things when you get older. Either they will be like their parents only worse. Or they will rebel against it all and do something stupid, that may cause them their lives and possibly even the parents lives, or someone elses.

When you take the childhood away from children and drown them in a sea of useless bs, don't expect them to grow up with a healthy attitude about much of anything.

Kids games and dreams are just that. Games and dreams. Let kids be kids while they can. Because it will be soon enough that their childhood is gone.

Kids have been expelled and prosecuted for writing violent stories for class projects.

The People's Republic of New Jersey....unfortunately, the "no tolerance" policy is adopted in alot of schools today. I wonder if their history books have pictures of soldiers with their weapons and if they plan to burn those anytime soon?

NJ...two wrongs don't make a right but four rights do make a left. You have to have lived there to understand. There is no such thing as a left hand turn. You have to go to the nearest clover leaf and make all these turns to get back on the road again in the opposite direction so you can make a right hand turn.

Plus, it's also against the law there to pump your own gas. Now that is a trully worthless law and it's not worth the ink to print it. I wonder how many Morons had to accidentally kill themselves pumping gas before they passed that wonderful piece of legislation? Of course this is coming from a state that has the highest insurance rate for your car that averages out to about $3,500 a year and it came close to taxing toilet paper.
