I'm happy!!
I really wanted the Ultra, but I went down to the range and tried the Pro, and really liked it. It's barrel is 4" in so it's still small enough for carry, but the frame is made of steel compared to the aluminum of the Ultra. I prefer steel for it's weight and durability. It weighs in at 35oz without mag.
This one has tritium night sights and a black grip, but I'll probably replace that with something custom. Black with red flames perhaps?!?!? Just kidding! :D

I put black grips om black SA. It came with logo'd cocabolas. When I bought newest one it had the black grips. I liked it so much I put them on my carry gun. Looks cool.
Black with red flames would look killer too. I was looking at a pair of black with red ghost flames.

I can't seem to find the red ones, but they look just like those black ones, but of course the flames are red. I may have seen it in a magazine. I'll look this weekend and see if I pin point it for you. :)

It's an African wood called Thuya. Very expensive apparently, but I LOVE the way it looks like flames, or even lava flowing!

oldemagics certainly COULD make grips like that, if i can get some of the wood!
now you have me searching for a supplier that handles it (and IF i can afford any)
thanks a bunch! (semi sarcasticly, since now i want some and currently broke)

they didnt have it dash, but i did find 2 places with it
quite a difference in the grain with that wood, from fairly plain reddish to the lava look.
for the nice marbled lava like grain it would cost me from $30-50 plus shipping each set, plus time to make the grips.
if anyone is interested enough i can get some in, but looking at around $80-85 delivered pere set.

That exotic wood is getting scarce these days, huh?
oldemagics
03-25-2009, 08:18 AM
not sure if the exotics are getting scarce, or if they just inflate the prices because they can
a single small block of black/white marbled ebony, enough to make about 2 sets of auto grips ran me $85 the other week that used to run around $25-30 per set for slightly nicer grain/color
