What do ya think now?

He is trying to look at it from a realist point of view, however I don't remember reading anything in the constitution that restricts capacity to 5 rounds. You gotta pick, are you with the 2nd amendment or are you for "optimizing" and rewriting it, I think most of us would just like to keep it the way it is with no restrictions.

Actually I am a NRA member and this doesn't really bother me. Just like any other company, there will be people on the board who support some ideas and some that don't. Now if he were the President or Executive Director for the NRA then I would be a bit more worried.
As it stands, he is entitled to his particular opinion. But I doubt that his 1 opinion will have any great influence on the board of directors or the mission of the NRA at all.
Some say that this may be too naive a stance to hold, but until I see it starting to affect NRA policy I am not going to be worried about 1 opinion.

I'm an NRA member too, and I agree with you, but I also look at it like this...
That's gun control and opinions like that don't belong on the NRA board. Even if it just one person that one person should be booted and replaced with someone with a realistic understanding between gun rights and gun control.
Just my 2 cents. :)

Yeah I can't really argue with your there Dash. Though I am not sure how or if it would even be possible to have a vote to remove him from the board.
Though, I am hopeful that when he does move on that the board member that replaces him, has a much better view point.

I agree that if a NRA board member speaks his mind its his personal opinion. That said, I also believe that if you are on the board and are not supporting the second amendment and our rights its time to kick his butt off the board.
I get that chance to vote for those members and will remember anyone that sides with the anti-gun folks when I vote.

I'm a member as well... but I have to admit I've had my doubts lately about it's effectiveness against the change we are going to see in DC shortly.

It is very important to remember that the NRA is only 4 million + members out of 80 million gun owners. The other gun organizations are very small and are not nearly as large as the NRA when you put them all together.
If the NRA had even 30-50% of gun owners as members they would be the elephant in the living room. Politicians would never ignore them as a group to solicit for votes and support.
Encourage every hunter, gun collector, target shooter, gun mfg, or other gun supporters to join the NRA because we need to stand together to insure our second amendment rights are protected.
Support the other groups too if you have a problem with the NRA go with GOA or the Second Amendment Foundation, and don't forget your state gun rights organization.

Well said... I will continue to support the NRA but it's a good idea to get the others to do the same. Thanks.

To me the bigger question is "Does the NRA support us, not just the hunters but all gun owners?" I doesn't always appear that way to me. I have been a members for years and I get more junk mail from them and spam than from AARP. Bank with us, buy insurance through us, buy this, that and the other thing from us. Just send us money!

Yeah, I agree the email and junk mail offers do get a little out of control, but I also look at that as a way to pay the bills to keep the organization in the political loop. I know the NRA store says everything sold goes to the defense fund or something like that.
If they relied on membership dues alone they'd probably go under pretty quick.

Yep, join any progun group and keep the e-mails and faxes going to the fun members of Congress that want to strip you of firearms. Like Mrs. McCarthy for one.

I cannot support the NRA and I canceled my membership after the NRA co-sponsored the " Veterans Disarmament Act " 144,000 veterans who were diagnosed with PTSS and also risked their lives will lose their Constitutional rights to keep and bear arms.
According to my sources the NRA also supported the Assault weapon ban.
I hope I'm wrong.

I understand but I would imagine some with this disorder shouldn't be near a firearm,A evaluation would be in order I would think .
As far as the weapons ban I never heard that one before.

Ron Paul
by Larry Pratt
Executive Director
Ron Paul has represented areas near Houston, Texas for nearly 20 years in the U.S. House of Representatives. He has the reputation of the paramount defender of the Constitution and seeks to follow it in casting every one of his votes.
Ron Paul has been a leader in the fight to defend and restore the Second Amendment. He has sponsored legislation to repeal the following:
the Brady law;
the requirement to lock up your safety (guns);
the law permitting the US to be part of the UN (which, among other attacks on American freedoms, seeks to ban privately transfered firearms);
participation in UNESCO -- which has been used to dumb down US education standards;
the federal prohibition on importation of guns on a sporting basis test;
federal prohibitions on any pilot wishing to carry a handgun to and in his cockpit; and,
the so-called "assault weapons" ban (prior to its sunsetting in 2004).
Paul also has sponsored legislation requiring states to treat the concealed carry permit of one state the same as they do that state's driver's license.
Paul has viewed his opposition to a national ID card as a protection for gun owners. A national ID card would most likely identify the bearer as a gun owner, among other things of interest to government officials.
Paul acknowledges his underdog status in the 2008 presidential race. He argues that he is offering himself as a pro-Second Amendment alternative to the candidates who have initially led the field, none of whom have a pro-gun record. Paul hopes to use his long experience in raising grassroots support to gain sufficient funding to become the pro-gun alternative to the current leaders of the field.
Ron Paul is a Medical Doctor who for years even as a member of Congress continued practicing as an obstetrician. He is married and has five children, 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

After the NRA's support of HR2640 they will never get another penny from me!
They have sold out all the veterans with their support of that law!
They claimed that it would not hurt the veterans but every veteran sevice organization says otherwise!
Screw the NRA!
