I picked up one myself about 2 years ago that had sit in cosmoline storage since it was made. Never was issued and it shoots like a champ. I love it.

You guys know how to remove alot of cosmoline build up really easy right?

I had mine cleaned at the machine gun shoot when I bought it. There was a booth demonstrating sonic cleaners and they completely broke it down, cleaned it even the wood. Then re-oiled it and put it back together for $30.
Which was great for me as it saved me a lot of trouble and only took like 15 min for the whole thing.

That's great. It's worth the money too. I've found the best results at home is a empty kitchen sink, alot of boiling water and seperating the wood from the metal receivers. You just pour the water over it without scalding yourself and all the cosmoline will melt off.
Trick is getting all of it out of the metal and then drying it and giving a light coat of oil to prevent rust. Other than that, the water trick works really well when you have no other options.

Sweet. Looks just like mine. Here's a link to a picture with my SKS in it, though it was actually to show off the FAL I got a couple of weeks ago. The SKS wasn't in the best position and maybe sometime soon I can take some better pic's of it. But feel free to check out my other post here - http://www.americangunowners.org/forums/showthread.php?t=513
But again, grats on the gun man. I love mine and it is a very accurate rifle that is easy to shoot.
