that you started over on the BF... the one that got locked down by a mod owing to some folks mixing "bears and politics"... well... I gotta comment on that, and I shall do it here since it's impossible to do it over there on the other forum.

Who really :wgaf: if 50% or 60% of the world's number of polar bears die off?

Only a tree hugger would illogically make an assumption that these are cuddly and cute creatures.

Those dimwits ought to be reminded that a polar bear in the wild will typically attack and eat a human on sight!!!

We are literally no more than a meal for those huge carnivores.

Anyone who doubts that is welcome to try and pet one and see for themselves!!!

Drilling rigs working up on the North Slope will typically have one or more guys employed as "Bear Watchers"... and by the way, they're armed with high powered rifles. The bears will amble into a camp next to a rig and "hide" by burrowing just under a blanket of snow... almost impossible to see until it's too late if you happen by one. Men have simply "disappeared" in this "white out" work environment... becoming a polar bear's lunch.

I am by no means a tree hugger, and I don't care if they die off because of nature, it's just that it would be sad if it was us that are making their ice melt:laugh: The only creatures I would like to see destroyed for good are spiders and bees. But we all know if bee's die off we are in trouble, however I do not think the polar bear serves as an important purpose as the bees. I just fucking hate spiders and bees please leave this planet:banhim3:, I fucking hate spiders:hoppinmad:.

So to sum it up I don't care if they go if that is natures plan, but it would kinda be sad if we were at fault...and I did not jump on the global warming ban wagon yet, the jury is still out but I don't see how anyone can have a concrete opinion on global warming yet, the jury should still be out for everyone...that's all:cool2:

and I'm with you on those damn spiders!!! :whs0be:

I'm sure in the larger scope of things, it's not entirely good if all the polar bears died off tomorrow... global warming or not being the culprit.

As seals are their main diet... someone might educate me on what would occur should the seal population go unchecked...

So if the polar bears happen to go the way of the do-do bird, is such going to culminate in a horrendous ecological disaster?

They wouldn't be the first species we've managed to exterminate, either directly or indirectly.

Such is the price we all pay to live in our modern world of convenience... one that I strongly suspect not too many want to give up.

Last I read, living in the Dark Ages really sucked big time. :speechless:
