I have been thinking about getting one for days that I spend a lot of time in and out of the car or traveling to Philly to see my kids and such. So JK's post about his adveture last night tweaked my interest a little more. I usually carry in a VMII.

Any her familiar with crossdraws and what are the better ones?

I got a SERPA holster for my battlegear. It holds my Glock or M9 in place but it's on a full battle gear situation and pistols are the absolute back up. Meaning that my rifle is not available anymore and I've run out of frags.

Usually I don't like crossdraws. It was demonstrated too me from the beginning of my police days that if a person gets close enough too you with your crossdraw on, you're literally just given him a perfect angle and possibility of taking your pistol from you. I don't recommend crossdraws for anyone.

At least a hip rig will defeat the angle of a close encounter pull out. If you're right handed and locked in the seat of your car with or without a seat belt you can probably get better results if you just sit on it with your right thigh. Your body weight will keep it in place and you will always feel that it is there if it gets loose. You'll always get fast access too it. When you get too your destination, put it back into your hip holster.
