I found a NIB H&K USPc in .357 at a local store, and the dealer offered it to me for $500 out the door. Darn ready to buy it when I read a thread on the HK Forum. A new owner of the same gun had experienced a "Rust Bloom" on the slide in short order. The problem was the there might have been some moisture between the holster and the finish.

Question.....Is this the exception, or is the finish on new H&K's that delicate?

The finish can tend to scratch easy,,I'd jump all over that deal,,my HK usp 45 is my favorite. IN the couple years I've had mine I got 2 small scratches on the slide,,no rust...and the scratches are gone from a touch up marker that blends it all back
I 've never read anywhere that Hk's are rust buckets ,,every gun can have a rust issue.

How difficult do you believe it would be to come up with a .40 S&W barrel for it?

U can always get the slide refinished later - I have a USPc 9mm hard chromed. Try that down the line or NP3
