Thanks to Cliff, last night I remembered how bad I want a bike:pat9xu:. I like the classic cruiser style with the rumble, not the crotch rockets. Here are some of the ones I want, in order...All of these I really like and it would be a tough call, I like this Honda cruiser and these 2 Yamaha's. Out of these 3, I would go with the Honda but it's kinda unfair since the Honda is the more expensive of the 3 and has a larger motor. I could have picked higher end Yamaha's but for some reason I like these 2 instead...Plus it gives me an out if I want to spend a little less instead of the Honda. What ya guys think of these 3?

I knew people would say that. I looked at the Harley site and at their current line up. I do not see anything that stands out besides the fatboy which I do like. I will have to look again but they all seem short...I like the long/low look/feel. Maybe it's just their site but the pics do not do their bikes justice I guess.
EDIT:I like this fat boy...the Fat boy is flstf that is the only bike I truly like, most Harleys make the rider lean back too much...

Ya, it's too much especially for my first bike. Plus the Honda's are probably more reliable. The first Honda I posted is probably too much muscle for me for my first bike it has a 1795cc liquid-cooled 52-degree V-twin:eek:.
I like this bike and will probably settle on this Honda VTX 1300c, it has a 1312cc liquid-cooled 52-degree V-twin and is probably more my speed for my first bike. This is about $9600

I also like this Honda...The price is also right at $6,800:limp:

dude if this is gonna be your first street motorcycle, go buy the $150.00 crappy bike chained to the tree down the street thats for sale. like it or not you have to plan on dumping the bike while learning the effects of countersteering. better to drop a 150.00 POS than a $8,000- $16,000 new bike.
and even if you have ridden street bikes before, take a MSF authorized class.
cause like it or not we'd like to keep you around (just to make fun of) for awhile.:logic:

I would take that class first. But what this about counter steering:limp::lol:
Of all the ones I listed I like the looks of the 2nd one down in my original post, the Yamaha 1100 custom. Oh well I have a year or 2 before I go get one to learn all this counter steering you speak of:D

What he said. Buy a $500 POS and fix it up and more importantly, LEARN HOW TO RIDE. Don't get an 1100cc bike for your first. What are you going to do the first time you lay it down? And you will. You wont even be able to lift it up. Get a 500cc for your first. It's got enough muscle, you can go on the highway. It's not just being able to operate the machine, you must develop the mindset of being invisible to cars. I have been nearly killed countless times by people who were looking right at me. Also, do you have your license yet??? A murdercycle was my only mode of transport for 6 years until I T-boned an old jackass who pulled right out in front of me. Hit him going about 40mph. 6 months of pysical therapy. Sounds fun eh? Yeah bikes are cool. I miss riding.

+100000000000000 etc....etc....etc
get the smallest bike you can find to learn the basics on, and dont listen to anything anyone of your friends says about how cute it is!
look at it this way "small bikes are like really really fat chicks, fun to ride you just dont want any of your friends to see you on top of one":limp:

LOL, I get the point. I just thought I would take it slow on that Yamaha 1100 and not push it. Plus I thought that the new bike would be safer than the pos chained around a tree. I am a cautious person until I get used to something, so like I said I would just take it at like 40 mph max for the first year or 2...all I know is I sometimes take rides at night(when there is no traffic) to clear my mind and relax, and a bike would be better and funner for that activity. Then again I do not feel like dumping the bike and I do not feel like t boning cars...maybe I should not get one...but dammit I want one:cool2: I will have to think this out over the next year.

LOL Capn' That was funny.
JK, I would love to get a bike. I was raised riding dirtbikes, but have never gotten into street bikes, but I have really had the itch the past few years. Some very good advice has been provided about what bike to get first.
My dream bike is this one, complete with extra lights and the luggage boxes.

Unfortunately, I won't allow myself to get one until my kids are MUCH older. Since I will soon be a single parent, I cannot take the risk associated with riding a motorcycle until my kids get WAY older. For now I will stick to horses.
Just be careful!
This one is VERY nice too.
