Well as the title says, I re-watched the movie today with my fiance. The last time I had watched this movie was when it first came out. I had forgotten that Michael Moore was in the NRA, was a gunowner, and also a hunter.

Now, I see a lot of time on BF, that this movie is called out a lot as anti-gun, anti-2nd ammendment, pro gun-control, etc.. After watching it again, I have to say it isn't any of these. The movie focuses on the violent nature of Americans primarily affected by the influence of politicians and media. It shows how countries with similar history, similar cultures, and similar eveything else, have lower gun homicides than the U.S.

So I guess I'm wodering, why does this movie get such a bad reputation by gun owners? Are the peple who bad mouth it just pissed off poeple who haven't actually taken the time to see the movie and have pre-judged the film?

I haven't seen the flick yet. I've been thinking about renting it though.

Based on what you said though I think a lot of pro-gun people will dismiss anything that doesn't highlight the good, positive things about guns.

Nothing wrong with focusing on the good though I guess.

It's the "My buddy said..." syndrome. I remember when Bob Dole was running for president. He said he wanted to clean up Hollywood and used Pulp Fiction as an example saying it glamorized drug use.

When a reporter asked, "Have you actually seen Pulp Fiction?" He said, "No, but friends of mine have and they told me about it."

That's another problem with politicians. They don't have to know anything about something before they demonize it and start writing their little laws against it.

Yeah I have to agree with you there Dash. It's amazing how much demonizing is being done by people who don't always have all the facts. Just like that woman in the video clip talking about the 50 cal and saying that they shoot heat seeking bullets. It amazed me even more that the news station that carried the report didn't even attempt to correct the mis-information.

I have not seen it, but will someday soon. "Gun people" sometimes get overboard on some things...Like on the BF some people refused to watch the movie Shooter because Mark Walburg is supposable anti-gun. I mean that's going a little far, it's a movie, I'm all about gun rights but it's crazy how far some people take it...

Jk,
Do you remember when I posted the free video link of Moore's new movie Sicko on BF? One of the admin's locked it because people on BF are too childish to actually dicuss real world issues in our country. Instead, they feel the need to bitch and moan about Michael Moore, and they haven't even seen any of his films. It's all a bunch of "I think I know what I'm talking about, I heard it from a buddy or watched it on the conservative Fox news"

Bowling for columbine = Good movie. Exposes the concern of why there are so many firearm homicides in America vs. other counties. NO anti-gun, No anti-2nd amendment, No pro-gun control in this film. It does show a little bit of anger against the NRA, but it is justified.

Farenheight 9/11 = Piece of crap

Sicko - Great Movie. Let's fix our healthcare system. Maybe 3 sentences of anti-bush remarks in the films and that's about it.
