I have an F-1 (that I paid $99 for when I bought it) that works really good.
A couple of things... remember, for firearms you want it at least 6 feet from the end of your barrel so muzzle flash doesn't mess with it (and I usually put mine 10-12 ft away) and when you end up with it 6+ feet down range it is a little hard to see the display (especially when your old and your eyes get bad)
I've thought about getting one with the remote display but figure that is just one more thing to mess up potentially.
Printer... more cr@p (like paper) you have to continue to buy over time.
With all that said, I really like the F-1 I have and it has provided me with all the information I've needed over time.
I bought it back in 2003 when I purchased an HS Precision STR in .308
I was assembling my loads to be 2650 fps and what is interesting, you can see where they were slow initially (2300 fps) in that rifle but came up to 2650 fps across the first 30 rounds fired in the rifle (break in period).
In my AR10-T (which was already broken in) were all in the 2600-50 fps range.
Anyway, to get back on the topic... the F-1 works great!

I have a Chrony too; going on 5 years now. Very good, and FIXABLE ! Ya know, just ONE 190 grain, 30 cal HPBT can REALLY ruin your day!

A little solder, some electrical tape, and careful bending made it work just like new!

Thanks for the input guys. I would be getting the f-1 with the wired display unit(its only $10 more) , i think midway has it for $80 right now, seems like a good price.

Dino, i thinks you are supposed to shoot the bullet through the sky screens, not at the unit:pat9xu::toofunny:

Ever buy a camera kit and get one of those cheap tripods? That's the ticket! If you don't have one, go to Wally world, or a big yard sale and buy the cheapest one that will get to 4 feet or so.

The Chrony's have a 1/4-20 threaded socket on the bottom for this.

The REASON I shot it, though lame, is understandable. I have a 5" high-rise scope mount on my Contender barrels for standing shooting. I was dialing-in a new 300 Whisper load with the gun in a rest. With the chrony 10 feet away, the scope was showing I was PLENTY high to miss the chrony. However, when your barrel is 5" lower than the scope at that distance . . .
:vomit1:

Besides, there's a certain AIR about one that shoots his chrony !! :D
