I would consider this pistols as my next. although I am partial to Beretta's, HK and Sig's are very nice also. I like the looks of this gun, I think it's like a usp but more ergonomic...Anyone have opinions on this?

JK. You can buy any firearms you wish. I'm sure you've done your homework on them. After so many years with firearms the only thiing I suckered myself in was the "after thought".

What I mean is what will you need this one for? Don't get me wrong, I've got small and large frame handguns in all calibers that range from combat use to evening wear.

Like my Vertec for instance. For years I wanted a 92 to come with a rail. I like my Beretta and think it's a fine pistol but what I failed to do was research the little things that I may get for it. I had a perfectly good SS 92 and I traded it in for the Vertec just for the rails. One year later the TWO comes out and it's got way more options than this Vertec. Hell, I can't even find grips for it unless I want walnut and walnut on a piece that was supposed to be a combat weapon for me just didn't work. Now I'm stuck with it for awhile, even one of the other forum members is selling his.

For example: The Vertec I rebuilt (look up my Beretta thread). I practically changed it back into a standard 92 again especially with the longer barrel, the only difference was the rails. It cost me around an extra $100 to get the other parts and online trading with forum members to get the stuff I wanted in this pistol. I customized this Vertec from a cop street pistol to a combat pistol and I planned to probably bring it into the sandbox later this year or next year. BUT! I never researched the problems of getting a kydex/SERPA like holster for it. It's been out on the market for what? Three years and the only folks that mass produce a holster actually made for the Vertec is FOBUS. It's an OK holster but I'd hate to take the chance of losing it somewhere too.

Remember the Springfield XD's? Those are actually Croation designed for the Balkan conflict in the early to mid nineties. It hasn't been until recently that there were holsters specifically made for them. They were flying off the gun strore shelves but no one could make a holster for them until Springfiled did it themselves and some other folks finally jumped on the bus and started making holsters for them.

Some have said that I could shove my Vertec in a holster made for a Sig. I could but I am picky. If I bought it off the shelf NIB for $650, I would not skimp on the holster, especially since it's a tax deduction for me and I just want a holster that was actually made for it. So accesories for a specific weapons platform is important. It's kinda like buying rails for an AK and mounting it to an AR.

This new HK is beautiful, it's much like the P2000 they built with USP controls as well. I'd wait a bit and find out if there would be accessories that would be available for it later on. Another good reason for me to mention this is that HK accessories cost an arm and a leg. When I got my USP, it was over ten years ago and I got it second hand for $500 and six ten round mags. Aftermarket mags for that thing wasn't cheap even during the ban. Now that the ban is off, I can't find a HK made 12 round mag for less than $45 a piece.

Look at that FN FS2000 I got...I still have to find lower tri rails for it to satisfy my PMC needs with it. They don't have them right now. I have to wait until 2008 to get them if they come out at all. Meanwhile, I feel like a putz as I winged on a few accesories that fit my needs.

You have a good combat pistol now. It's nice at the range for plinking at targets and small enough to conceal for CCW purposes. There are holsters and mags available and you don't have to search too much to find stuff for it.

What I'm advocating too you is to wait a bit and see what accesories will other companies find or build for it. It's a safe bet. By the way, have you ever just thought about a Glock 22/27 combo or a Glock 17/26 combo? There's alot of Glock stuff out there.

They make a .45 version of the gun above too. I just like the way the HK looks and i'm sure it's a fine gun. All I know is I want at least 3 pistols, 1 AR-15, and 1 shotgun(Beretta or Benelli). I will probably take my time deciding like I did with the storm so I don't have any afterthoughts:pat9xu:

I want to shoot a glock, but I hate the looks. I am usually a function kinda guy but it's like a car...you can have a reliable car and thats great but who wants to drive one of those scion box's

Hey, didn't they steal Walther's magazine release design?
My P99cAS has the levers... I feel there is less chance of the mag being released when carried concealed. (though I really haven't had any issues with what I call ~normal~ style mag release buttons in the past)

That they were the owner of the mag release. Since the USP came out before the P99's. I think HK came out with it.
