Anyone know how long night sights will glow before needing to be replaced? Specifically "tru dot" nights(made by meprolight?), they came on my sp-01 tactical and it was made in 2006. I tried their website, but couldnt find a FAQ's or anythink stating glow life. They are green if that matters????

I put those G17 Meprolights on about say...'95. They aren't as bright anymore but it still gives enough light to still engage with confidence. I think twenty years is about how long it'll last. They are well worth it though.

Seems to me that 10 years is the published useful life on most tritium sights. Unless my memory is going, after ten years, the sights will be about half as bright as new (which is still a whole heck of a lot brighter than nothing). Tritium has a half-life of 12.3 years. This is all assuming that you are asking about tritium sights, not just phosporescent painted sights...

they definately have "lamps" i assume they are tritium , my 75b has the glow paint(came that way from the factory, definately better than nothin), but it only works when charged first.
