I think this new forum needs a raffle. So i'm going to start it, but i'm short on ideas for a prize......so heres the rules
1. Shout out an "I'm IN" and pm me an idea for a prize(optional, but will help me out).....
2. Tell some friends about this site....the raffle will end when the forum membership gets to 50(right now it's 35).at which time all participents will put in the hat and a 2 names will be drawn.
There will be two winners, the first name drawn will have choice between a very nice bi-pod courtesy of "CBnL" or a winner specific prize that I will do some shopping for. The second name drawn will get whatever the first winner decided against.... GOOD LUCK!!

Since this forum deals with different types of firearms and we all have an interest in the "shooting sports". I'm sure that quite a few corporate sponsors could sponsor this forum and help out boosting our circulation and contribute monies and prizes for our forum members. We or should I say the web designer and Moderators must get some corporate sponsorships. We could put banner links up on the top part of the forum homepage for starters.
As for the prize...I'd say a gift certificate of $200 from a big name gun marketeers like Midway USA, Brownell's, Cheaper than Dirt, Tapco, Adco and Sportsmans Guide. The winner could then order things that they've wanted and now have the option of purchasing it with the help of corporate sponsorship. We could also send out a certifed Cashier's Check for an amount for the guys to spend it on anything they'd like.
(If anyone knows anything about Corporate interests and shooting it would be me, your lovable resident Private Military Contractor)
BTW: As far as the Beretta Forum goes, I'm pissed at them like a bad brother-in-law I'm out of there. They are too narrow minded for me. Actually I wouldn't know how to un-member myself from there. Does anyone know?
This is the most enjoyable site that I go too on a regular basis just to hear other folks with the same types of interests (sometimes conflicting) but we all have a fair say in it and we are allowed to use our 1st Amendment rights of freedom of speech.
Isn't that the objective of a Forum? We are all 2nd Amendment advocates here and we can voice pro or against certain things. It's the ultimate site for freedom of speech.

Well......I'm in, and I will not offer a prize option, I would not want to suggest something that may be too pricey or....never mind I just had a great idea...pm on the way, all members will likely like this idea but you would have to ask them first if they have this already...great prize for any of us I would think...Hell I'll just say it no pm needed right? A 1 year subscription to Guns and Ammo:drunk:

sinatra i get what you are saying. I don't want people to get there hopes up for a $200 gift card(unless like you said, we get some sponsors), i'm a workin' man a $200 is beyound my financial means at the moment. I was thinking more along the lines of an acc. for the winners' pistol or something along those lines.... maybe i'll edit the rules and have members post a pic of their favorite or newest firearm??what do you think?

08-24-2007, 01:22 AM
jk..i think you are on the same page and good idea....
let me use you as an example:
say you win...i know that you currently have just one gun, a px4(40cal) being a polimer gun grips are a no go, you probably have enough mags(but you can always use more), maybe i could get you a ss guild rod from steve bedair, but i would have to find out if you already have one.....al else fails i could sent you a big box-o-'nanners:toofunny:
sorry couldnt resist
Headhunter 13
08-24-2007, 06:01 AM
I'm in and thanks. As a suggestion for the prize, I think the SS Guiderod is a great one, a Walmart gift card towards a Box of WWB is another (hey I mayuise this one)

I'M IN!
a box-o-nanners would be cool!!!:cool2:
How about a "Recycle Raffle" ? (Until you can acquire a sponsor who would be willing to donate a prize.)
So any member who has something in good condition that they don't use/need any more can donate it to the "Recycle Raffle". If the item is very gun specific you could display a picture of it and let its nature be known so that only people with a use for it would enter but other items that might be more general could remain a mystery. Have one a month and the person who donates the ~prize~ would be responsible for shipping. (and gain ~partial sponsor~ status :D ) Also, this way, the declared value of the ~prize~ could be ZERO that way you wouldn't have to declare it on your taxes. (and yes, if Uncle Sam could prove you won something but failed to report it on your taxes that would be felony tax evasion.)
sleepyweasel, I'll PM you here in a few... since I came up with the recycle idea, if you like the sound of it I think it only fitting I donate the first prize... I have something in mind already that could be generally used by any rifle owning person.

Thanks to the generousity of CDnL there now will be two winners:drunk: first name will have choice of a bi-bod or my winner specific "mystery" prize.
CdnL should be along shortly with some details on the bi-pod.
Sinatra877
08-24-2007, 11:11 PM
Hope this raffle will happen soon. If I get lucky, I'll get the bi-pod. I need it.
The bipod is a (used, excellent condition) Harris 1A2-L bipod 9"-13" height.
This is the non-swivel type with the spring load that draws the legs back in.
It attaches to any swivel stud and the forend of a rifle.
I'll even sweeten the deal but the extra will only go to the winner if they have a use for it... IF the winner has a mini-14 or mini-30, I'll include a Harris Bipod Adapter.
http://members.cox.net/decook/Harris_1A2_Bipod_1.jpg
http://members.cox.net/decook/Harris_1A2_Bipod_2.jpg
Sure, I could put the bipod up for sale but I like this forum and decided offer this up as a raffle prize.
Good luck all !

I even have a old Mini 14. That bipod and adapter looks awfully good. I'll just have to kneel down and pray. Thanks for the contribution CBnL.

I thought I'd be a good sport. Since some of you are donating items that you don't use anymore, I rummaged through my war room and gun hallway closet and I found a few things.
I'll make a few donations too. I just hope that "I'm In" too for any drawings.
Number 1:
This is a stripped upper receiver from my old AR. It is in the configuration of a M-16A1. For those whom don't know the difference. It is a upper receiver of an older model M-16 that has no detachable carry handle with the old rear drum sights. I could sell it for about $70-$60. It is used but not abused. If you want to return your AR to the original configuration, this is it. Please notice that the dustcover and springs are gone and so is the bolt assist button and springs. It is no frills and no serial numbers so no FFL transfers would be needed. This item has no bolt carrier or bolt nor charging handle. Here's the pic.
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z220/Sinatra877/Giveaway%20Stuff/P8250001.jpg
Number 2:
These are the upper handguards for a "shorty" AR. It will fit 16" to 14" barrels. They are also metal lined to repel heat better. They are well used but not abused. I replaced my handguards for a A.R.M.S. four rail mount. They are worth about $25 bucks since they have the metal liners in them. Here's the pic.
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z220/Sinatra877/Giveaway%20Stuff/P8250004.jpg
By the way, since I worked on alot of our companies inventory in the sandbox, I have about six buffer springs for full stocked AR rifles. If you need one, just let me know.
Number 3:
This is a universal holster made by Uncle Mike's for large frame handguns. It is nylon with belt straps for both Right and Left handed folks. The snap enclosures will also adjust to your needs for both Right and Left users. It has only been worn twice by me. It's still practically new. It is worth about $25 bucks. Here's the pic.
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z220/Sinatra877/Giveaway%20Stuff/P8250002.jpg
Finally, Number 4:
This is an older Right hand only use Fobus Paddle holster for Beretta 92/96's. I have not tried it with a 96 but the frame size is about exactly the same. A Taurus 92 variant will also fit and I would assume that any Beretta 92 copy without rails will fit into it. It is a good holster. It is made of black plastic and you would be surprised how well it works. Since I own a suped up Vertec, it won't fit anymore but the holster still works fine. It does have a trigger guard retention system in it when you slide your weapon in it. It usually goes for about $20-$15. Here's the pic.
http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z220/Sinatra877/Giveaway%20Stuff/P8250003.jpg
All items are roughly worth about $100-$125. Never say that I wasn't a team player. I hope some of you guys can use the stuff. I have no need for them anymore.
None of these items need FFL paperwork. I can send it directly to the winner.
Good Luck to All of Us in the AGO Forum.

I have recieved a bunch of pm's regarding the raffle,(see what happens when you go out-of-town for a day)and i will try to get them sorted out and replies sent.
senatra thank you for offering up some more prizes, lots of good stuff there.
I have to try to figure out how the drawing should be done now. I have had a request for making the recycle raffle a monthly event, and i think its a really good idea, and if david approves it, i would keep it organized.
Now i just need to figure out how to get myself in on all the "action" senatra put up a few prizes that i want. :poke:
I'm going to get to pm'ing and if someone can come up with a good way to do the drawing let me know.......
I'll also compile a prize list.....
sleepyweasel
08-26-2007, 11:00 PM
Pm's have been replied to......
The monthly raffle sounds like a cool way to keep the karma going.
I am willing to keep it organized, just have to check it with David first, and see if it needs its own category or not and he has to give it the o.k.
Heres my propossed plan for how the drawing will work.
donations will be accepted till the 26th of each month at which time i will compose a master prize and participents(I'm in's) lists....and post it on the forum
all names besides mine will be put in a hat and my son will draw the "grand prize winner"...This winner gets firts choice of 1 prize from the list.
I will take the rest of the names of the participents(including me this time:D) and randomly number them 1 to ??......I will take a photo of the paper next to a website that displays the date(msn.com) and ask the "grand prize winner" to select 'x' amount of numbers(equal to the ammount of remaining prizes) from between 1 and 'number of particepents' ......
The winners will be in whatever order there number was called out.
here is an example:
say there were 6 prizes and 16 participents in the hat
Headhunter is pulled from hat...he gets choice.
*I take photo of list next to monitor displaying the date/time*
I pm headhunter ..... "we need 5 numbers between 1 and 15..."
then headhunter has to pick 5 numbers between 1-15
he picks 8......2......11.......13.....7.... and post them in the thread.
I post the winners in order along with the photo of the list
8 turns out to be cbnl...he get to pick from 5 remaining prizes....
2 turns out to be jkroner...he picks from 4 remaining prizes.....
11 turns out to be toecutter...he picks from 3 remaining prizes.....
13 turns out to be sinatra....he picks from 2 remaining prizes.....
7 turns out to be david...he gets whatever is left
If you get "stuck" with a prize you don't need or want.... give it to another forum member, put it back in the next months' raffle ,ebay it if you must, but I DO NOT WANT TO SEE IT UP FOR SALE IN THE CLASSIFIED ADDS ON THIS FORUM. It's just plain bad karma. :2gunsfiring:
Does this seem fair or does it still need work?

Your're too kind. I really appreciate the gesture but it really isn't neccesary. I could use it but I'll take my chances like the others too. Besides, it's not like I'm taking my Mini 14 out too the sandbox anyway. We can save it for the next raffle.
Just for that kind gesture though...lemme put a smile on your face. Nice headlights huh?

I've got an entire shelf of manuals, disassembly guides and reference materials already. I wouldn't expect a consolation prize anyway. Just gimme a double chance in the next drawing for stuff. Especially when we get corporate support one day.

Box of bananas? Box of those little banana candies in Wonka's Runts?
An aerosol can of Merck Experimental Tree Monkey Repellent? (No, you will never live that one down):poke:
Bathroom cleaner?
I know, you subscribed him to a bunch of porn magazines right?
(We did that to a friend in college. For some reason, he never complained, hmm)
Whatever you do, do NOT send him a banana spider. He will run out of ammo shooting it to smithereens.
Jason, let us know when "it" arrives.

Ya the un-captured one is the one I would have wanted anyways since you can replace the recoil spring much easier, Talk about a nice raffle prize:cool2:

It took longer than originally planned because I listened to the guy(alank) on the BF that put in the 1st bedair un-captured rod. He said to lock the slide back and try to press in the 2 small clips in the side of the guide rod that way...:love4: that's all I gotta say about that way:love4:. No idea how he did it that way I tried for like an hour and took many frustrated cig breaks, I finally called Steve and asked if there was another way besides working on it while in the gun with the slide locked back and he told me he put the first one in a vice and locked the spring back with a pair of pliers. That was the trick, there was no room to press in the little tabs with 2 small screwdrivers with the slide locked back and at the same time pull off the retained end, you needed 3 hands. Thanks Sleepy, looks great I can't wait to go to the range and give it a 200 round function test, I bet it will be better since there should be a little less recoil with the stainless rod under the barrel:rockin:

Your prizes are enroute too you now. Please let me know when you received them. I sent them the cheapest way possible. I'm cheap and easy that way. KPierce, I'm curious too see if that holster will fit a 96 frame.

Bipods on rifles are supposed to fold the legs out away from the shooter because if you have it installed the other way and you shoot in a prone position, it could fold back onto you that would either hurt you or ruin your next shot.
Yea, just attach it to the sling stud and tighten it with the screw.
The only thing you have to watch is after the first handfull of minutes after having it on the gun, the cushion tape that protects the finish of the gun will compress some and you might need to give the screw another tightening... generally after that they will stay tight for the duration.
(and what Sinatra said... install so legs fold towards the end of the barrel)
