personally, if I were the cop, the guy wouldn't have made it as far as he did.

That was the dumbassed kid who brought a "cell phone" at night and aimed it at the cops like a gun. Never bring a cell phone too a gunfight. He got what he deserved.

Sad to see that people aren't bringing up their kids to respect anyone, including themselves. It was obvious he was trying to intimidate them with something in his hand. I am surprised at how far away he did get. But at least no officer was shot.
Truly sad thing is, this may have been over nothing more than a moving violation. Then again from the way he was dressed he could have been a gang banger. If so at least there are one less of them now. :violin:

But let's ask Trigger, our resident active duty LEO in our forum. As a former LEO, I can see the shoot as justified but from my memory I think the Cops were unfairly judged by the black community because the kid did have only a cell phone and they didn't see it. The shoot happened in Shreveport, LA.
The kid should have pulled over the first time he saw the lights. Then complied with the Officer's orders. He did the stupid option and got his young butt killed.

As soon and he pointed that thing the cop behind should have popped his dumb ass.

There could have been other mitigating circumstances that range from "the beaten Wife called and said that he had his gun with him and that he'd shoot the cops before they'd arrest him"
or
Maybe he had already put Officers lives in immediate danger before he decided to boogie from his car...
or
He may have wanted to go to his ex-Wife whom had a restraining order against him and called the cops right after he called her that he was coming over to kill her with a firearm.
Bottomline....It could be any fuckin' thing. The dashcam only shows you the story from a dashboard of a patrol car...nothing else. I'd bet my bottom dollar that the Police had a very good articulable reason to use deadly force.
And if they don't...God help them.

Yeah, who knows what happened that lead up to that, but listening to it it sounds like he was being chased and nearly hit one of the cops. I would imagine the one that shot him.
If you listen after the guy says he doesn't want to die the cop then says too fucking bad or something like that. I'd have to listen again.
Another cop sounds like he's telling him to stop, which probably did save the guy from dying that night.

I've used this line a few times when I think a guy is gonna break bad on me.
"Listen, If you and I get into a tussle, we're all gonna jump you and most likeley you are going to get hurt plus I'm gonna have to do alot of paperwork but I'll still win...if I shoot you and you die, someone else does it all from the State and I get 30 days off with pay, so I still win. So what would you like to do now?...let's just keep it simple OK? It's nothing personal, just doing business."
Surprisingly, I reached alot of violent offenders minds when I told them that and they knew the cards were stacked in my favor, so they complied willingly and as gentle as a kitten. Thank God. I hated doing all that paperwork. They always addressed me respectfully and complied to my orders. Even though these folks were criminals, I think they were still shocked that I would talk them down or treat them like a human being. All it takes is some polite skills and a few minutes.
I'd rather yack for another ten minutes to de-escalate a situation rather than putting hands on folks. Some co-workers (especially Rookies) just don't get it though. Everyone wants to go balls to the wall with lights and sirens and play Supercop with Napoleon complex. Oh well...those were the good old days of my Policeman years. I'm getting all melancholy now...

On the redneck video posted by Max, it looks like the guy squeezed off the shottie on his way down. It probably hit high on the chimney but I am glad the SWAT guys shot and then covered quickly.
What an idiot!
