Every-time I see a thread about someone buying or thinking about buying a 1911 it give me the urge to buy another one. Obsessive, Compulsive Disorder that expends itself through the handling, shooting and purchasing of 1911 firearms, I guess.
When I visit Sportsmans Warehouse or my favorite gun dealer I have to check out the latest and greatest 1911s. Then it hits me, the "Wants" gota have it. What the hell is with that?
Is it just me or do other members have the same problem?

You have me all excited over that Colt. It really is a nice looking little gun.

I would want a 1911 only because of the grip angle/feel, I find it far supirior over most other guns. I don't like 2 things about 1911's in general, 1: They need to be carried locked and cocked(Or you have to manually set the hammer before you fire, or you have to chamber a round), and 2: They are more of a pain to field strip and clean than other guns. So those 2 things hold me back from getting one, but that Kimber Grand Raptor 2 calls my name hardcore, but the price tag tells me no:naaa:.

1911's are the probably some of the safest guns to carry. The cocked and locked thing isn't as big a deal as it may seem. Glocks are carried the same, but have no safety at all, except that "safe action trigger" BS. I think the new ones have a safety though. ?
1911's are also the easiest guns to field strip. I can completely strip the frame and slide down to every part, clean them and put it all back together quicker than any of my others.

You said "little"... , now I don't feel like I'll be part of the 1911 family:lol:

I have only had my 1911 since Christmas, God I love my wife, back on topic...and I have yet to have every moving part out of it. I need to get instructions and/or a video on how to do that.
I need to go fondle it right now and put some oil on it...I'll be back...no I'm not talking about this :love4:

I'm thinking very seriously about another Springfield 1911. My "Loaded" is sweet. My Kimber just rocks, but I won't spend that kind of money on another one. Not that they aren't worth it, I just need to save some money for gas!

Get the Springer GI and work it up into what you want with upgraded parts as you go. Or, find a beater Sistema and do the same. I just read somewhere about someone getting two for under $450.

The Loaded out the door was only $669. It would cost more getting a standard GI and tweaking it than it would just buying one already decked out.
If I can remember correctly the GI has fixed front sights. I'm real picky about that. When I buy a gun I must be able to change anything I want, especially the sights. My next one will have a TFO front sight put on it.

But with the GI, you can tweak it and make it your gun, sort of a custom. No one else will have one like it. That's my drive to get one and tweak it. You can have a dovetail cut into the slide.
I saw pictures on another forum where a guy to a GI and total money into it was about $1200...it was one of the sweetest 1911s I've ever seen.
