I like better than the regular XD, less "boxy" looking. I may have to check into one of those... Wonder if it comes in .45?

My next purchase will be a compact 1911. I can decide between SA, Kimber or a Para though... Still real curious about your Colt too.

Then maybe these will released soon after. The grip looks nice and slim on it.

When you say boxy for the XD, what do you call the glock?

We'll see, I wasn't a big fan when I saw someone else's low quality pictures, but this is growing on me.

It looks like they're trying to reduce the weight even further. I wonder if it will be out in the compact 45 models and the subcompacts for the other calibers.

Looks like it might have night sights from the factory...

The one thing that isn't shown here is the M is supposedly for modular in that the backstraps (maybe something else too) are interchangeable to vary the grip feel/fit.

I believe the M is for Match, it's stamped on the barrel.
I can tell just by looking at it I will like it more than the 2 other XD's I've had,
Really like the radius of the new backstrap and the grips changeability.

Plus it has larger sights, which is always good. But that web page is horrible about saying what new features are on the new gun.

I wonder if they're going to keep all the internal mechanics the same and whether or not the parts are interchangeable from the older platform...

Well it's released but only in 40 cal right now.guessing for LEO,,,gunbroker clowns are putting the rip on people,,asking way to much

I checked one out today,,,MMMM,, it's Ok I'll reserve bigger judgement til I get to play around with one again,
It is a big gun though closer to the size of the Tactical which I don't like,,I like the size of the Service model

40 cal by the way as thats all thats available for now

I have not seen on yet but like the looks of the new "M"

They have done their homework cleaning up the looks of the frame and slide. Its a winner if it functions reliably, and there is no reason to think it won't.

I saw two XD40-M models last week and they're pretty sweet. One was a bi-tone one was all black. One nice change is that you don't have to dry fire the pistol to field strip it.

I fondled the M today, it felt real nice in the hand, but the gun is a little on the large side for carry. The price was $687 if I remember correctly.

I agree...if they come out with a compact or sub compact in .45 or 9mm, I'll probably get one. I have the XD45 compact now and it's quite nice for carrying 11 rounds of .45 acp. The service model, the size you looked at today, is too big for a skinny guy like me to carry.

TcRoc

It's actually bigger than the service model..closer to the tactical,,the service I can conceal easy,,although I don't have a problem conealing my Usp 45 either

One thing that's changed about the model in .40 S&W is the capacity. The older XD in service and tactical models have 12 round magazines and the XD40-M has 16 round mags...a nice improvement for an very close to identical sized grip. The slide might be a bit longer, but I think the grip is about the same. 16+1 capacity in .40 S&W might be the largest capacity factory gun with a polymer frame.

Sorry, the PX4 holds 17+1 in the factory extended mags, it's all I carry:2gunsfiring:

That's extended mags. Flush fitting mags on the PX4 in .40 S&W holds 14+1. The 9mm holds 17+1. Right?

Correct

Yup, but I thought you meant factory mags, not necessarily flush fit.

There are baseplate extensions for my XD45 compact that allow me to have 17+1 of .45 acp and they're still compatible within the rules of the gun games.

Those would be tough to conceal though for my skinny frame.

Where do U buy the extensions? Do they also have new springs to handle the extra length?

jkroner659

They're aftermarket. But the mags that ship with the PX4 are 14+1, right? If you want a higher capacity, you have to order the extension. To me, it doesn't matter if it comes the same manufacturer or if it's aftermarket, it's a part that doesn't ship with the package when you buy a NIB pistol.

After Market is better anyway ,,like Mecgar..
They don't fucking rip you off as bad as the pistol manufacturer and there reliability is proven

So now's it's a XDm,,it was was the 229 DAK for the longest time,,that 's cool though,,I'd be interested in shooting it if that mind of yours doesn't change again:poke::lol::popcorn:.

Last time I was at the shop John had a crap load of them,,no Glocks though,,he said he dosen't know when he'll get any more of them

jkroner659

The 229 Dak is more money and holds less rounds. BTW after I choose the dak, I thought maybe it would be best to stick to a decocker:lol:. The next gun I want changes with the wind. I can say thought I have never made a purchase I regret, so I am doing good so far:popcorn:.
