I just heard that there has been another collapse in the mine in Utah where six men are trapped. The mountain bump killed one rescuer and injured eight others.
AAAARRRRGGGH!!!!!!!
I am a safety professional. I have worked in some very hazardous environments, but nothing scares me like mines do. I have fought oil refinery fires, served as a medical officer, worked technical rescue, and have never, fortunately, had to deal with a fatality on the job. During every event I have ever responded to, my greatest fear is losing one of my rescue personnel. Tragically, that is what has happened in this case. I am not involved in any way and this just rips my heart apart.

While I have never been one to lose hope, after 10 days, risking additional lives in what is most likely now a recovery operation needs to be considered very carefully. I hope the rescuers were taking every precaution and not cutting any corners trying to hurry. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the men that are unaccounted for, and for those who were hurt tonight.

Yeah, that's pretty harsh stuff. Wasn't 3 of the rescuers killed?

You'd think they'd have working rescue plan in place well before the job begins.

They said they heard unusual noises from in there so maybe the miners are still alive?
