I really luv my wife.

I picked the XD9sc as my new CCW, and in the spirit of valentines day, put money down on it. After much consideration and trials/testing out of a few different sub-compacts in the past few weeks, the XD9sc won out.

I luv my 92FS, but it was just too bulky to conceal since I'm not a fan of IWB holster in general, and the OWB paddle I found/use for it didn't prop it high enough on my waist. I have been using the wife's T380 in short trips to "get a feel" for actually carrying. -I found the smaller size of the T380 easier to "relax" with, and get in the right mind set.

The XD retailed for $599 - $649 depending on the retailer, but we know the owner of the gun shop we mainly use (I've bought my other pistols from him), and shoot at the range with a few of his employees, so he cut us a deal of $525 out the door (or layaway in my case) with all the "extras" the XD comes with.

I'm also seriously considering the Insight X2L rail mount light/laser combo. But then the whole holster issue becomes increasingly more difficult. The X2L is about another $160 bucks, so it's on the back burner for now.

I chose to stay with the 9mm instead of .40S&W or .45ACP for the simple reasons that it's WAY cheaper to shoot and IMHP the right 9mm defensive round is more than enough. - my current choice : Federal HYDRA-SHOCK 135grn JHP.

Needless to say...... I'm very excited and now it's just a waiting game.:banging:

Thanks! I tried them out with my Beretta, and liked them alot. Both accurate & w/low recoil thus reducing mussel flip. I also had a chance to shoot them thru swaping w/a Glock 26 one night... and had the same results.:2gunsfiring:

I'm very curious/hopefull on how the XD will shoot them.

The XD is a nice setup. Check out the Speer Gold Dots...they seem to feed really well. The shop where I bought my XD45c has been firing self defense loads through road-killed deer to see how the ammo performs and expands and the Gold Dots looked to do the best. Granted, deer hair/hide is different from clothing and the flesh is different, but it's better than gelatin. I was not impressed with the expansion of the hydrashoks in the flesh and blood testing on the deer.

Also, if the grip is too short for you, check out Pearce grips (http://www.pearcegrip.com/springxd.htm).

Another thing, if you want a shorter take up and a nicer trigger, it can be had for around $50 or so by replacing a single part...the striker safety lever with the part from Powder River Precision (http://powderriverprecision.com/index.php?p=3&c=xd+sear+safety+lever).

Did your XD come with night sights?

Thanks for the info!

I went with the Federal Hydra-Shock for the simple reason......NOBODY here stocks Speer Gold Dots. I've searched every gunshop within 50 miles and nobody has it.
Lots of Winchester/Federal/Wolf/Blazer etc.......but no Speer Dots.

I test shot the XD SC in 40 cal. before I put money down on the 9mm to get a feel/idea for the gun's working action/trigger pull. And liked it all. Not sure about the trigger mod. I found the trigger pull satisfactory to my liking, but I'm always open to options.

Thanks fo the grip link. I was having an issue on the "pinky" extender option on the mag(s) the gun comes with. I like them.....but awfully "tall" mag. (1 -10rnd mag without & 1 -16 rnd with) This is going to me my CCW, and having a high cap mag is nice, I want a shorter mag to aid in concealment. This will help alot. I was looking also picked up an XD 3mag kit with extra holder for another $45 bucks. But the mags were all high cap. and I would have to add XD'd pinky sleeve to them all for "???" amount of dollars more.

I'll focus on maybe 2 extra 10 round with the pinky extender you suggested, and probably 1 more high cap with XD's pinky sleeve.

Just 3 white dot sights. I thought those "were" night sights? Both my Beretta & the wifes Bersa have the same. Was considering more adjustable colored fiber optic options. The dealer was going to check into that for me, but I'm currently "surfing" for any other info I can get.

Again thanks!

Congrats - I looked at one a few weeks ago and rented one. I was debating whether or not to get it to use for CHL instead of my P99c. I love the P99c, but I sometimes wish that the backstrap was a little longer - and the backstrap on the XD IS a little longer.

Here is a comparison I did between the two guns:

If I didn't already have my P99c, I'd probably get the XDsc in 9mm.

For night sights, check the TFOs out..it's a fiber optic rod and a tritium insert so you get glowing sights day and night. For the XD mag kits, look for the XD9sc kit...they have kits where it's two compact 10 rounders and 1 16 round mag with the sleeve.

This site (http://ammunitiontogo.com/) has 50 rounds of Gold Dots in 124 gr. and 147 gr. standard and +P for 24.95...that's the best price I've seen on Gold Dots anywhere. Their prices on .45 acp is the best I've seen as well.
