In the 1911 forum TcRoc posted a link to a Para PXT test.

http://www.americangunowners.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1171

1000 rounds in 10 mintues and a few seconds.

Of all the Glock tests I've watched, I've never seen anyone try anything like this. Just toss them in the mud and fire a few shots is all...

So My question is, do you guys think a Glock could stand up to 1000+ rounds in 10 minutes?

My bet would be it would deform and begin to melt after about 500 continuous rounds or so...

I'm thinking very seriously about setting this test up, funding it and recording it. I shared 250 rounds between my 2 1911's at the range a couple of weeks ago. Both guns after that little bit of shooting were too hot to touch at the muzzle end.

Not saying Glocks are bad guns, actually, I'm wondering this about all polymer guns. I know they're tough and can take water, dropping, mud, concrete and all that stuff, but extreme excessive heat? I don't think so.

It would be interesting to see.
keep in mind the g18 is full auto, so a few hundred in a few minutes should be ok.
I put 150-200 rds through my beretta 92 in about 2-3 minutes before, it was very hot(don't touch the barrel), but it still fired fine.

Under 300 isn't quite 1000. So there's still the question of can it take the heat?

I say we just throw one in the fire and see how long it takes to melt:laugh:
Just kidding all you glockoholics:D

I would think that 300 rds in 1min 15 seconds would get the gun way hotter than 1000 in 10 minutes.
Thinks about it compared to a car....you can drive down the highway at 2500 rpms untill the tank runs dry...but try that with it at redline, and it will most likely boil over in just a short time.

I read somewhere that the plastic frames could take heat well over two hundred degrees. Being a confirmed, dyed in the wool Glockaholic, I would bet money on it that it would hold up. I will try to look that info up sometime, but I would still bet on the Old Combat Tupperware sight unseen.

I believe my original post was incorrect. I said 1000 rnds in 10 mins, but I do believe it was actually 10,000 in something like 45 mins.

I'm not really a Glock a guy, but I do know they are good guns. I actually own one myself. I would be highly impressed if one could take the 10,000 round challenge. I can guarantee the heat would exceed 200 degrees.

10,000 would be alot to swallow,,lol ,,I don't think the poly guide rod would hold up,,any poly guide rod would have trouble with 10,000 rounds in a row,,,to hot,,,,melt ,,melt ,,melt or just break.

I'd love to try it,,just supply me the ammo and I'll put my G30 to work,,but like I said I think any poly guide rod wouldn't have a chance,,,not 10,000 in a row

I wish I could find that video again. When he got finished shooting that thing it was too hot to pick up by the grip.

It was impressive in several ways. First, 10k rounds. Then not a single failure, then to top it all off it was all mixed ammo. Different brands, types, etc...

Yes.......well almost. 1000 rounds in 13 mins and 47seconds. Close enough. ;)

Note at the 4:00 minute mark of the second vid, the poly guide rod does indeed melt and fall out of the front of the slide. However, the G19 keeps on rocking till the 1000th round is fired.

I am not sure which 1911/1000 round vid you were referring too (the link you had did not work) but if it is the one with Todd Jarrett, I have to question that one due to the fact that it is edited. The G19 one I posted above shows all 1000 rounds fired.

Here it is. It was 1000 in 10 mins... It is the one with Todd Jarrett, but I didn't see any reason to question it myself.

Yeah, same vid. Just not edited as much as the one on youtube.

Either way, both guns are impressive in their own rights. I am sure other guns could complete the same tests too. Beretta, Sig, or any other top manufacture. It's all about what works well for each individual.

Any of those guns could do a 1000 round test ,,and any gun could malfunction at anytime,,it's a silly test really unless you take say 100 guns from each manufacturer and put a 1000 threw all of them to see which does the best
