range injury...kinda

I finally went to the range today. Acctually i just went to the "unofficial" shotting spot down the road. all was good, got my scope sighted in and was shooting some empty shotgun hulls off the ground. Then i pulled the trigger and it sounded alot louder than the last shot and my face felt like it was on fire. being the "unofficial" range i didnt have my shooting glasses on(very stupid:nono:). I guess i lucked out, just a little bit of a powder burn, i could have lost my eye....looks like either the gun fired slightly out of battery or the case just plain blew out(part of the brass was missing, the rest was pretty mangled). This will be the last time i ever negleck to use eye protection.

Well I am glad to hear that you're ok Bro. It could have been a lot worse as you said. Just got to practice safety all the time. And I know that, I too forget that from time to time myself. But again I'm just glad you're ok ;)

i dont think it fired out of battery.....i was shooting a mossberg 702(22lr semi-auto) and was using aguila sss which is basicaly a short case loaded with a 60gr bullet to the same OAL as a lr. my guess is that there wasn't enough pressure to lock the case in the chamber(which was a little dirty too) and the bolt started too the rear before the bullet cleared the muzzle.

for the record those aguillas shoot great and will cycle the action:D
